Blogging Drama

Blogging Drama

Hi Loves
As you may or not be aware there isn't a week goes by with some sort of drama in the blogging world. I usually try my damnedest to steer clear of all this nonsense, as quite frankly at 61 it is nothing more than hot air to me, although if I am 100% honest sometimes it's amusing to watch the keyboard warriors frustrated at not getting their point across be it valid or not.

What has led me to write this post, is not current news, it is a drama that unfolded a couple of weeks ago. If you are a blogger you will know what I mean by Moosegate, for those that have no clue what I am rambling about, the upshot is that a young blogger 22, mailed a hotel asking for a 5 night stay for free in order to promote said hotel. The hotel owner who it transpires is known for his caustic personality deemed fit to copy the girls email over the internet, blocking out her name in light pen, which by enlarging the photo could clearly be seen. Just to mock her and bloggers. The girl responded with a very tearful YouTube Video saying she had asked for discount or a free stay (nowhere in the email mentioned discount) but whatever.
My problem with all of this isn't really with the girl -  I am not mentioning either name here as it's not important. But the way the whole debacle has turned out.

Today I discovered that this alleged grown up 58 year old man has had Tee shirts made and selling on his hotel website, mocking the girl, I also discovered Mr Caustic has recently had a problem with a Vegan customer questioning his menu and has now blocked all Vegans as well as Bloggers from his establishment, and has announced that he is delighted that the Tee shirts have arrived slating Vegans.   RIGHT - do Bloggers wear signs saying I am a blogger, and how the hell will he determine who is Vegan? anyone dressed in green could be under suspicion by this numpty.

He Sells this in reply to food intolerance

I know the saying is any PR is good PR but really?  it may have worked for Anita Roddick opening the first Body Shop directly next door to an undertaker. I personally think that was a lucky coincidence as it bought her huge PR.  I am prepared to put my neck on the block here and stick my two pennies in.

My issues are, the girl is young. OK not stupid or she wouldn't be making a living from blogging. BUT she is following in the footsteps of a zillion young girls her age in this me me me society, it's all look at me, love me, send me stuff.  It's the way of the world now, my generation may be uncomfortable still with the self promotion but we have come to accept that a certain amount is required, albeit reluctantly.  But for this new generation it is the norm. And they are bloody good at it too!

He is a grown arsed man, or supposed to be. For goodness sake, upon seeing his antics and tactics, why anyone would want to give this person their hard earned money is beyond me. HE couldn't pay me enough to stay in his pile of bricks.

Oh and as a side note :)  I took great offence to her video saying that it's probably because the older generation don't understand the internet and social media!  (cough) less said here the better :)

At my age I have the gist of the internet, just not all the bull that comes with it.  I shall now return to my cave. If you have read this far I congratulate you.

  1. I think it speaks volumes if you look at who/who isn't still milking the attention. Although you are right, I don't agree with her comment about older people not understanding the internet. However, I think she can be forgiven for acting out anger and hurt - whereas the White Moose owner literally has no excuse.

    1. Kelly you are so right, she can be forgiven, we all did things when we were younger as a knee jerk reaction out of anger. He should know better, but Karma will play it's part :)
      Thanks for reading.

  2. He really is ludicrous, I wouldn’t stay there if he paid me. And to mock food intolerances is vile & what does it matter to him who’s vegan? A girl recently died from a restaurant not taking her food intolerance seriously & he’s mocking it? I think his behaviour is disgusting. I don’t agree that “the older generation” don’t understand the Internet, being an older blogger, I manage & that’s what google & friends are for if there’s something I don’t understand, but I’ll let it slide cause she’s upset. He bothers me the most, and from what I’ve seen/read he’s digging his own grave. Great post lovely, I’ll get off my soap box now xxxx

    1. Soap boxes are good, I think sometimes we need to stick our two pennies in.
